Conforming... (For lack of a better title...?)

I have conformed.

After two days of walking around in short-sleeved, flip-flopped delerium, I am now wearing long-sleeves.

The house is cozy and warm...it's hard to believe that on the other side of the front door, it's in, I don't know...the 50's?  Until I step outside, that is.  All of a sudden, the short sleeves, jeans and flip-flops don't appear to be such an ingenious idea.

But there are some things you don't conform to.  Romans 12:2 tells us in NKJV, "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."  The Israelites in the Old Testament weren't supposed to be "like all the other nations".  They weren't supposed to have a King "like all the other nations."  Christian kids aren't supposed to be "like all the other kids."  Teenage Christian girls aren't supposed to dress and act "like all the other girls."  Christians aren't supposed to be, "like everyone else."  We aren't supposed to be like the world.

Yet it's so easy to be pulled away from the Bible, and into the world's appealing darkness.  That's right - the world is darkness.  Jesus is the Star of Light.  Satan is the Ruler of darkness (Ephesians 6:12).  Colossians 1:13-14 reads, "He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins..."  Jesus' sacrifice on the cross delivered us from darkness.  1 John 4:4 says, "...He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."  John 12:31 tells us, "...the ruler of this world will be cast out."  Satan rules this world.  WHY DO WE WANT TO BE PART OF THE WORLD???

Okay.  I've read that on the internet, using caps lock conveys shouting.  But I am shouting.  Why is it that we allow ourselves to be lured away from Jesus' redeeming light into Satan's deceptive darkness?  Why is it that we feel like we're "missing out" and that our parents / guardians and Jesus are keeping us away from something good?  Why are we so attracted to sin and darkness when Jesus has saved us from the power of darkness?

For some reason it's easy to fall for Satan's lies and temptations.  But don't forget that Jesus was tempted, too.  He knows what you go through...  and He is also there, calling you away from the darkness, calling you to Him, calling you to His epic light.

Rejoicing in hope,
"Klarabelle"

I was trying to look up Romans 12:2 on BibleGateway. I miss-typed and wrote, "Romans 12:12".  I thought Romans 12:2 would make a great signature!  Except I'm not sure if I'm really "patient in tribulation"...  So I left that part off.  :p  Something to work on.  Here's a challenge for you...  Romans 12:12 reads, "rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer..."  Are you doing those things?  Which one(s) do you need to work on?  I can rejoice in hope - that's not hard!  But the other two...  Like I said.  Something to work on.  :)

  2. I liked your post, too! Haha, it's also been freezing cold here lately! Although, today is supposed to be nice, so I'll probably be heading outside once school lets out. That's the one bad thing about being homeschooled. When you finish your work early (like today), you want to go play outside, but you can't because public school isn't out yet and people would wonder why a kid is outside playing while school is in session! And I guess playing street hockey in our driveway would attract a lot of attention...:-)

  3. Why can't you go outside GJFH until school is out?
    Sorry for the question...

  4. I guess I can, but my mom tries to keep us inside during school hours become some people might question that school-age children are playing outside instead of doing school. If we have to go outside, that's fine, but we ususally try to stay indoors until other kids are outside playing, too. Hope that makes sense...
