Anyway, back, you say? Where did I go? Or perhaps you even noticed my complete disappearance from social networking sites or, if you live near me, society in general. Or, if you know me on FaceBook, and you were looking forward to a "post about my trip", you are wondering why this post is exactly the same as my status. Well, almost exactly the same.
Anyway, last Sunday around 5:00 am, my family and I headed off to drive up to Yellowstone National Park and the Grand Tetons!!! I'd love to post in detail about it later but at the moment I'm, as stated earlier, 1/5 asleep, so I will spare you. But I will say that seeing the different sights and places was a great reminder of God's awesome power and creativity, and it was wonderful to spend a lot of time with my family as well. A quick version of the highlights of the trip would include...
- getting to visit a good friend of mine and her family on the way up to the park
- drinking my first cup of coffee (okay, a half cup)
- eating McDonald's twice in one day (and four times in a week!!!???)
- living in a trailer! (we stayed in a trailer...we didn't pull it around, it was stationery, like a hotel...but a trailer. So cool)
- seeing geysers
- seeing more geysers!
- getting sprayed by a geyser! (I, of course, was freaking out, saying the acidic minerals would eat my skin away...TMI, sorry)
- seeing bloop-bloop pots (aka mudpots...more about that later...Lordwilling)
- driving right by a buffalo!
- seeing more buffalo
- seeing elk (so cute)
- playing card games in the trailer (I lost Golf, won Golf, and lost Hearts...)
- shopping at GIFT SHOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- riding in the car for 14 hours...and that was only on the way back :D
- GIFT SHOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- eating Cheetos for dinner
- eating lots of cheese crackers
- NOT texting or being in any way connected to the internet or society (just kidding) for 6 days...
- and other cool stuff that I'm too tired to remember. I just got back from the aforesaid 14 hour car ride, a couple hours ago. I ran downstairs to check on my pet mice. Basically, they were still alive, but they were STINKY!!! They are stinky in general, but leaving them with two overflowing bowls of food in the basement and not being able to clean their cage on time = very, very stinky. So, I cleaned it right after we arrived home (it was early evening anyway). Then I ate Cheetos for dinner (again, I know) and decided to go check up on all your blogs, after posting on FaceBook. I've chatted with a couple people today and the cliche question, "What did you do today?" has, of course, come up. I'm enjoying answering with, "Rode in the car for fourteen hours". Not to brag, though. ;)
Anyway, let's just say I had a wonderful time and I'm so thankful I got to go, but I did miss my mice, my home, MY SHOWER (okay, not MINE, but...you know), my friends and of course, you peeps out there on the blogosphere... (you fall into the "friends" category too, you know...blogosphere is just the subcategory) and it's good to be home, because...
there's no place like home. <3
(Random picture from the internet.)
And I wasn't, like, majorly homesick or anything (though if you are one of those people who misses home when away, I totally understand, and know how you feel!), but I thought it was a nice ending to the post. Though I just wrecked the moment.
Ah, so tired...
Talk to you, Lordwilling, when I'm not 1/5 asleep... :)
Oh yeah and for those people who were expecting more details.... LW, coming soon.
Oh and don't forget, it's September!
And...I forgot what else I was going to say.
